Chicken Pox

I recently found out that some vaccinations do not provide "guarantees."  A couple weeks ago, Hayden had a few bumps on her which popped up over a course of a few days.  I thought it looked like bites and I was searching her room for some sort of mysterious bug while my mom did endless amounts of laundry and I had Gary on call with the exterminator.  Needless to say, none of it was necessary (other than the laundry that is) because Hayden had the chicken pox.  Although she was vaccinated at 15 months, I was told by our pediatrician that he treats a handful of children a year that receive the vaccination but still end up with the chicken pox.  Fortunately because she received the vaccination, it was a very mild case; and more fortunately, Grandma Sindall was able and happy to keep Hayden for the week so that we could keep HB away from Luke and we could work.  Overall, Hayden thought the chicken pox were pretty positive - week with Grandma, get well gifts from her class at school, and all kinds of attention!

Here is a self-portrait that Hayden made of herself with chicken pox :)

Beautiful Day!

We enjoyed a beautiful day at the park last weekend- mid 60's!  What a nice surprise for February.  The kids had a great time being outside.
